Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• FE or EIT certification desirable.
• Must be comfortable safely working near high-voltage transmission lines.
• Must be able to work independently and make good decisions.
• Hands-on field work at industrial and commercial sites; not an office job.
• Strong computer skills and ability to communicate clearly in English.

Responsibilities

• Drive to customer jobsites in a company vehicle across the state; some remote locations.
• Review wiring diagrams and relaying schematics to understand project scope.
• Understand customer needs and requirements.
• Determine an isolation plan to take protective schemes out of service before work begins.
• Develop a test plan to implement relaying projects using customer prints and documentation.
• Apply settings and perform functional test of microprocessor protective relays and circuits using test equipment.
• Ensure received and installed equipment meets project specifications.
• Develop livening procedures for new equipment into service.
• Perform end-to-end relay testing for carrier and fiber systems.
• Perform primary current injection testing to verify secondary connections.
• May perform simple power system studies including short circuit, arc-flash and protective device coordination.
