Job summary

SMS Mill Services, LLC in Mingo Junction, Ohio, is seeking a hands-on Environmental Health & Safety Manager to lead field-based safety programs across two additional sites.

The role partners with operations and maintenance to drive risk reduction, ensure OSHA compliance, and develop practical training, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives across our heavy industrial operations.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of progressive EHS experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Experience working with both union and non-union workforces.
• Hands-on, field-driven EHS leadership style.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience leading or supporting change management initiatives.
• Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate continuous improvement of EHS performance across regions and sites.
• Serve as a visible, field-based EHS leader in operational areas.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulations.
• Conduct JHAs, risk assessments, audits, and oversee corrective actions.
• Lead incident, near-miss, and injury investigations with root-cause analysis.
• Partner with operations to integrate EHS into work planning and execution.
• Deliver practical EHS training tailored to heavy industrial operations.
• Manage contractor safety and PPE programs; oversee PPE levels via Coupa.
• Support emergency response planning and on-site drills.
• Travel to assigned locations to provide consistent EHS support.
