ION Solar is seeking a Solar Field Design Specialist to support Engineering and Design with field-based expertise for residential solar projects. You will review photos and site data, identify installation concerns, and ensure plansets accurately reflect site conditions for successful field installation.
The role emphasizes hands-on solar experience, ability to interpret plansets and electrical drawings, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive practical, install-ready designs.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years hands-on residential solar installation experience.
- Ability to interpret solar plansets and electrical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to identify potential installation issues before they reach the field.
- Comfortable communicating technical information to engineering/design teams.
Responsibilities
- Review project photos, site documentation, and field information to identify potential installation concerns.
- Evaluate proposed solar designs and plansets from a field installer perspective.
- Partner with Engineering and Design teams to provide practical installation feedback.
- Identify discrepancies between field conditions and proposed plansets.
- Determine whether equipment, layouts, electrical configurations, and methods are practical for field conditions.
- Provide recommendations to Engineering when design adjustments are needed.
- Communicate field conditions affecting roof/electrical /conduit routing to stakeholders.
- Maintain high quality and accuracy when reviewing projects.
