We are currently seeking a Solar Field Design Specialist to support our internal Engineering and Design teams by providing practical, field-based expertise throughout the residential solar design process.

This role is responsible for reviewing project photos and site information from a field installer's perspective, identifying potential installation concerns, and working directly with our internal Engineering team to ensure plansets accurately reflect site conditions and can be successfully installed in the field.

The ideal candidate has hands-on residential solar installation experience and understands how design decisions translate into actual installation conditions. This is not a field installation position. Rather, this role uses field experience to help our Engineering and Design teams make accurate, practical, and installation-ready decisions.

  • Identify discrepancies between field conditions and proposed plansets
  • Determine whether proposed equipment, layouts, electrical configurations, and installation methods are practical and appropriate for the field conditions
  • Provide recommendations to Engineering when field conditions require design adjustments or additional consideration
  • Help Engineering understand how roof conditions, electrical equipment, conduit routing, equipment locations, access, and other site conditions may impact installation
  • Review photos for potential issues that could result in installation delays, rework, failed inspections, or change orders
  • Assist in developing consistent solutions for common field conditions and installation challenges
  • Communicate clearly with Engineering, Design, Operations, and other internal teams regarding project-specific concerns
  • Escalate complex or unusual conditions to the appropriate Engineering resource
  • Help improve design and engineering processes by identifying recurring field issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain a high level of quality and accuracy when reviewing projects

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable using computers and reviewing digital plans, photos, and project documentation
