Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Quarry Operations & Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Dundee, MI. This 10-week paid internship offers hands-on fieldwork in an active surface mining environment, with mentorship from engineers and plant managers.

You'll assist with surveying, production optimization, drilling & blasting support, and environmental safety compliance. Applicants must be enrolled in Mining/Civil/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, ready for outdoor work, and able to travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles
• Geographic flexibility to work at various sites
• High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges
• A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization
• Outdoor Stamina: Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in variable weather conditions and rugged quarry terrain
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with basic surveying concepts; proficiency in Google/Excel (AutoCAD or mining software is a plus)
• Core Competencies: Safety-first mindset, strong communication skills, hands-on fieldwork preference

Responsibilities

• Assist with field surveying and mapping tasks using GPS and surveying equipment
• Monitor and analyze production efficiency of crushing, screening, and haulage equipment
• Support drilling, blasting layouts, fragmentation analysis and pre/post-blast documentation
• Identify bottlenecks in material handling and operational efficiency
• Participate in safety walks, inspections, and environmental monitoring procedures
• Present learnings and contributions to executive leadership at internship end
