Job summary

HDR is seeking a detail-oriented Land Surveyor to support surveying operations across the Dakotas region. You will collect, process, and analyze field data for boundary, topographic, construction, and engineering surveys while operating survey instruments and software in both field and office environments.

The role involves approximately 80% fieldwork with 20% overnight travel, and supports projects in transportation, water, and other infrastructure sectors throughout North and South Dakota.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of land surveying experience.
• Associate degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate total stations, GPS/GNSS, levels, drones and other surveying instruments.
• Assist in construction layout and data collection.
• Assist in topographic, boundary and site survey tasks.
• Assist in boundary document research at courthouses.
• Maintain detailed and accurate field notes.
• Perform basic calculations from field data and read topographic maps/design drawings.
• Demonstrate understanding of basic survey or CAD applications.
• Download and process raw data from field instruments.
• Perform other duties as needed.
