Job summary

Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a Staff Civil or Environmental Engineer in Kellogg, Idaho.

The role combines fieldwork (soil, groundwater, surface water sampling) with office tasks (designs in Civil 3D, QA/QC, reporting) to support environmental investigations and remediation projects across the Pacific Northwest. Expect to work closely with contractors, clients, and regulators in a dynamic consulting setting.

Qualifications

• BS in civil engineering or environmental engineering.
• EIT Certification or the ability to obtain certification within six months.
• Interest in consulting projects on site development, brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation design, hydraulics and hydrology, and stormwater systems.
• Strong technical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reports.
• Aptitude for using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Ability to travel occasionally to regional projects.
• Ability to perform physical duties including lifting and PPE.
• Able to work independently and in teams to deliver client projects.

Responsibilities

• Spend substantial time onsite collecting soil, groundwater, and surface water samples and supporting drilling oversight.
• Prepare QA/QC documents and investigation reports from field observations.
• Prepare design drawings using Civil 3D and stormwater models.
• Conduct third‑party design reviews and provide ARAR support.
• Assist with cost estimating, data interpretation, and report preparation.
• Support proposals, scopes, schedules, and budgets with senior engineers.
• Characterize mine-impacted sites and review remedial action designs.
• Engage with clients and regulators to keep projects on track.
