Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Field Director, Medical Science Liaisons for the West Region (US). The role leads a team of MSLs, shaping medical strategy and guiding field tactics to advance patient access and clinical practice.

You will coach, develop, and evaluate performance while ensuring compliant execution of plans across the region. You will partner with medical leadership to drive SEPs, engage with OLs, IDNs, and other institutions, and collaborate across internal stakeholders to deliver impactful

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree & 4 years of Medical Affairs experience.
• Master’s degree & 8 years of Medical Affairs experience.
• Bachelor’s degree & 10 years of Medical Affairs experience.
• 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.
• Seven years of industry experience in Scientific/Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
• Seven or more years focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research.
• 3+ years in a medical science liaison role in a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
• Three years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and oversight to the MSL team, ensuring alignment with Amgen’s goals.
• Coach and develop MSLs, enhancing team effectiveness and performance.
• Foster a collaborative environment and support work‑life balance across teams.
• Oversee change management and drive progression of medical initiatives.
• Represent the MSL team in interactions with senior leadership and cross‑functional partners.
