The Vector System is designed for medium and heavy-duty fleet applications and is used by leading municipal and private fleets nationwide, helping them achieve near-zero carbon emissions while reducing fuel and operating costs.

Job Description

Optimus Technologies seeks a Field Diesel Technician to provide first-class service to our customers' Vector System-equipped vehicles. This customer-facing role involves company-paid travel to customer locations for installation, service, and support of the Vector System and SMARTFuel. Comprehensive training will be provided during onboarding.

This hourly position ($36.00-$40.62/hour) is based in Pittsburgh, PA, with approximately 70% of work at customer locations.

Our field employees work autonomously, contribute to organizational goals, and may liaise with other departments. There are growth opportunities within the company.

Responsibilities

1. Become an expert on Vector System electronics, software, hardware, and mechanical components.
2. Complete system installations, including OEM component dislocation and relocation.
3. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals for installation, troubleshooting, and repairs.
4. Perform system testing after project completion.
5. Interact confidently with customers and address their questions.
6. Maintain communication with customers about work progress.
7. Provide troubleshooting and technical support via phone, email, or in person.
8. Ensure customer needs are met reliably and effectively.
9. Research and resolve technical issues using internal and external resources.
10. Assist with assembly of Vector System components.

Qualifications

1. Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty vehicle or equipment installation, diagnostics, and/or repair experience.
2. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems diagnostics.
3. Ability to read and follow detailed schematics and documentation.
4. Experience with hand and power tools; quick learner of new tools.
5. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google tools.
6. Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

1. ASE Diesel certification or equivalent, military experience, or similar work experience.
2. At least 5 years of relevant heavy-duty vehicle or equipment experience.
3. Extensive electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
4. Proficiency with MS Office and GSuite.
5. Ability to work independently under pressure, manage timelines, and prioritize tasks.
6. High-quality work ethic and customer satisfaction focus.
7. Mastery of installation and servicing tools.
