Job summary

Luminous Robotics, Inc. seeks a Deployment Software Engineer for the field testing team. You will travel to solar construction sites across the US, install and commission hardware, and train operators while debugging live with the engineering team.

You’ll work on real hardware, contribute production code as needed, and support high-visibility deployments and customer demonstrations in a dynamic, outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Working proficiency in C++ and/or Python, with enough fluency to contribute production code.
• Comfortable reading/editing scripts and config files on-site to set parameters and troubleshoot software.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (over 50% of the time) to solar construction sites across the US, with occasional international travel.
• Support on-site installation, commissioning, and construction of solar modules and LUMI hardware alongside site crews.
• Act as field test pilot for beta software/firmware releases and verify release candidates against test protocols.
• Set and adjust robot operating parameters on-site; troubleshoot hardware/software issues in real time.
• Train site operators and customer personnel on safe and effective robot operation.
• Contribute code that runs on real hardware, including behaviors, dashboards, navigation, or SLAM.
• Support deployments and live demonstrations for prospective customers.
• Report anomalies with technical detail for engineering action.
