Job summary

TAR is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to install and support robotic solar construction systems at a West Texas test site. You will deploy robots, get them running to spec, and diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, and software domains in the field.

You will work with design and manufacturing to turn field lessons into product improvements, maintaining field readiness and supporting on-site deployments for multi-week periods in austere environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or hands-on experience in a relevant engineering field.
• 3+ years in field engineering, field service, or systems engineering for complex hardware.
• Broad engineering background across mechanical, electrical, and basic software troubleshooting.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve field issues independently under time pressure.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, set up, and commission TAR's robotic systems in the field to spec.
• Diagnose hardware, software, or integration faults on-site and escalate with actionable docs.
• Own root-cause analysis for field failures and feed fixes back to design/maintenance.
• Develop and maintain field procedures, checklists, and technical docs for safe operation.
