As the world faces growing pressure from tariffs, rising costs, and labor shortages, Formic is uniquely positioned as the industry-leading solution to overcome these challenges. Fueled by our vision for a re-industrialized domestic supply chain, everything we do is aimed at growing "Made in America" products. And we're growing fast — achieving 7x growth in production hours YoY.

Supporting us in our mission, with investments thus far totaling over $60 million, are backers including Lux Capital, Initialized Capital, Blackhorn Ventures, Mitsubishi HC Capital NA, and CEOs and founders of multiple Fortune 50 companies.

The Deployment Team is responsible for managing the successful deployment of robotics-centric automation solutions in various manufacturing applications. The Robotics Deployment Engineer handles internal systems integration, system commissioning, and installation activities. This includes fabrication, coding, configuration, pre-installation validation at our Woodridge, IL facility, and related installation and commissioning at customer sites. You will collaborate closely with Deployment, Production Optimization, and Software Engineering teams to meet schedules, ensure a world-class customer experience, and support Formic's production goals. In a startup environment, you may also assist with new product development, testing, and troubleshooting.

In this role you will:

  • Lead internal systems integration activities, including validation, mechanical configuration, pre-programming, Factory Acceptance Testing, documentation, and system pack-out.
  • Install and commission solutions, partnering with Field Tech/Engineer and Project Manager onsite for installation, testing, fine-tuning, validation, and documentation.
  • Maintain production schedules and quality control processes in collaboration with management.
  • Support validation of Formic's solutions for specific applications through testing and collaboration.
  • Contribute to solution testing and deployment processes.
  • Follow all standardized processes, SOPs, and safety/legal requirements during activities.

What makes you a great fit:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Solid Modeling & 2D CAD experience.
  • Mechanical Design experience.
  • 5+ years in Industrial Automation, including Application or Production Engineering.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with industrial 6-Axis Robots (design, support, programming).
  • Experience with end-of-line automation, robotic palletizing, de-palletizing, or case-packing is a plus.
  • Willing to travel up to 40-50%.
  • Problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, strong communication.
  • Experience with hand-tools and proficient PC skills.
  • Valid driver's license and access to vehicle for local travel.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Located in or willing to relocate to the greater Chicago, IL area, with work in Woodridge, IL.
