Job summary

GFiber is seeking a Special Projects Deployment Engineer II to travel regionally, install and commission network hardware, and ensure site readiness. This role blends hands-on field work with tactical troubleshooting to accelerate service delivery and reliability across markets.

The position requires up to 60–75% domestic travel, a technical degree or equivalent experience, and familiarity with TCP/IP, VLAN, DHCP, and OSI references.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of independent field experience in high-pressure environments.
• Experience with standard networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLAN tagging, subnetting, DHCP) and the OSI model.
• Ability to travel up to 60–75% domestically.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Rack & Stack hardware installation at regional sites.
• Perform structured cabling for copper and fiber installations.
• Verify power, cooling, and environmental readiness for hardware.
• Execute site acceptance tests and verify throughput and redundancy.
• Act as primary field fault resolver when remote teams are unavailable.
• Use field tools such as OTDRs and fiber scopes to diagnose issues.
