Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking a Utility Field Technician to collect information and document overhead power-distribution infrastructure across designated service areas and beyond as needed. This field-based role involves outdoor work, travel within the region, and independent work with minimal supervision.

Ideal candidates have a background in utilities or field data collection, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with maps and mobile data-collection tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in utilities, power distribution, telecommunications, construction, surveying, inspection, GIS, or field data collection preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation of field conditions.
• Comfort using mobile devices, email, maps, and data-collection apps.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of overhead power-distribution facilities.
• Locate, inspect, photograph, measure, and document utility poles, power lines, transformers, attachments, and related infrastructure.
• Record pole conditions, equipment information, attachment details, clearances, and field conditions.
• Use maps, mobile devices, GIS-based applications, and electronic data-collection tools to locate facilities and document information.
• Upload photographs, measurements, field notes, and other project information.
• Plan daily routes and manage assigned work across the field area.
• Communicate with project management, engineering, and design teams regarding field conditions or access concerns.
• Follow all safety requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
