Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our inspection and quality assurance team. This position performs welding inspections across Southeast projects, ensuring compliance with AWS, ASME, and API codes and project specifications.

This role requires travel to multi-state project sites and field environments to support active construction operations, with responsibilities including documenting findings, coordinating NDT, and

Qualifications

CWI certification required by AWS.
Willingness to travel to multi-state project sites.
Experience with welding inspection codes and procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform visual welding inspections per AWS, ASME, API, and project specs.
Verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and PQRs.
Confirm welder qualifications and maintain documentation.
Interpret drawings and welding symbols; document findings and corrective actions.
Coordinate and monitor NDT activities; prepare inspection summaries and reports.
Travel to various job sites, including out-of-town assignments; follow safety policies.
