Job summary

8th Light, Inc. is seeking a Field Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead market-facing technology strategy and client engagement.

You will guide deal teams, build relationships with enterprise clients, and shape the firm’s technical point of view while maintaining hands-on delivery. This role emphasizes influence over authority and requires strong communication across engineering and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

Track record of pitching and winning enterprise engagements inside a consultancy.
Public technical presence: talks you've given, articles you've written, communities you help lead.
Experience shaping the service offerings or the technical point of view a firm takes to market.
Relationships with cloud or AI platform partners, and the standing that comes with them.
Working grasp of where AI and agentic tooling is heading, enough to judge opportunities.
Experience mentoring senior technical talent and raising the bar around them.

Responsibilities

Join deal teams to help win new engagements and stay a technical presence on important accounts.
Represent us in the market: give talks, write, and attend events; in-person presence matters.
Shape and sharpen offerings to reflect market realities and our expert position.
Collaborate with Growth to identify platform and AI partners for the right opportunities.
Drive go-to-market direction and iterate on where to show up and what to say.
