Job Description

MGX Field Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position will be located at the Houston, TX branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.

Compensation includes a $4,500 sign‑on bonus payable after 90 days of continuous service, eligibility for a Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year, and optional relocation assistance. Pay range is $25.00 to $45.00 per hour.

Essential Job Functions
  • Light diagnosis, repair and troubleshooting of various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes.
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
  • Properly fill out working reports, hours reports, timesheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Must have a mechanical background and related experience with electrical and hydraulics; able to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Must have experience in preventative maintenance and light equipment repair (e.g., oil changes, brake jobs).
  • May be required to travel to job sites and for training up to 50% of the time.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Experience working with different forms of mobile crane and/or heavy equipment is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.

Health & Safety Requirements
  • Perform job functions in a safe manner.
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required by Company policy.

Working Conditions

This is a full‑time position with typical working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions. The role may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Physical demands include sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and frequent lifting or moving of up to 40 pounds.
