Job summary

The Manitowoc Company is seeking MGX Field Crane Technicians for our Aiken, SC branch. You will inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain mobile cranes and boom trucks under the supervision of the Service Manager. This full-time role offers a $25.00–$45.00 hourly wage, a $4,500 sign-on bonus after 90 days, and a tool reimbursement program up to $1,500 per year.

Relocation assistance may be available. Expect travel up to 50% of the time and detailed safety and reporting requirements while delivering

Job Description

MGX Field Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position will be based out of our Aiken, SC branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.

Compensation: $25.00–$45.00 per hour with a $4,500 sign‑on bonus payable after 90 days continuous service, a Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year, and relocation assistance may be available for qualifying candidates.

Essential Job Functions
  • Light diagnosis, repair and troubleshooting of various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes.
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
  • Properly fill out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Mechanical background with experience in electrical and hydraulics and ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience in preventative maintenance and light equipment repair (e.g., oil changes, break jobs).
  • May be required to travel to job sites and for training up to 50% of the time.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Experience working with mobile cranes and/or heavy equipment is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician.

  • Perform job functions in a safe manner.
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PE) required by company policy.
  • Know and follow established job‑specific and facility‑wide safety and health procedures and rules.
  • Actively participate in safety and health training and demonstrate competency based on training received.
  • Bring safety and health concerns to management’s attention or correct unsafe acts when possible.
Working Conditions

This is a full‑time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions. The role requires working in an environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Employees may be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with disabilities.
