Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks Conservatorship Workers I–IV to manage CPS cases in ODESSA, overseeing removals, permanency planning and court involvement. This mobile role requires collaboration with families, guardians, and the courts while ensuring child safety and well-being.

New hires may access DFPS certification and career development programs. Positions may involve travel up to 85% and a nonexempt, daytime schedule within a state agency environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or Associate degree plus two years of relevant work experience.
• 60 college credits plus two years relevant work experience.
• 90 college credits plus one year relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives cases from investigators after children are removed, placed in CPS conservatorship and in care.
• Determines each child’s needs and refers testing, evaluations, or records.
• Plans for a child’s permanency with families and kinship resources.
• Identifies kinship providers and completes home studies as needed.
• Attends court hearings and testifies on the child’s needs and department efforts.
