Job summary

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks a Conservatorship supervisor to oversee a unit of caseworkers and clerical staff providing child protective services. You will supervise daily operations, ensure safety and permanency planning, and interact with courts, attorneys, and community partners.

This role requires navigating complex family dynamics, strong communication, and the ability to travel up to 35% of the time for field visits and court-related activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with 3 years CPS experience
• 60 accredited college credit hours with 4 years CPI/CPS experience
• 90 accredited college credit hours with 3.5 years CPI/CPS experience

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages unit operations to deliver services and monitor caseloads.
• Selects, manages and develops staff through field visits and performance reviews.
• Interprets policy to staff, clients and stakeholders.
• Evaluates unit performance for policy and service compliance.
• Develops relationships with agencies and community resources.
• Decisions on removal/placement of children; coordinate with legal partners.
• Attends work regularly per agency policy.
