Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Controls Technician who will travel to customer sites to conduct electrical and control system audits, review legacy and distributed control architectures, and support commissioning activities. You will liaise with project engineers to align audit results with project scope and prepare detailed technical reports.

The role requires 3-5 years of related experience, willingness to travel ~80%, and strong knowledge of PLC-based controls, fieldbus networks, and safety standards

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred (Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering preferred).
• 3-5 years of successful experience in a related field experience.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites (approximately 80%).
• Experience in brownfield projects at customer sites.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC based control systems.
• Experience with Asi Controls Tools (ASIMON) and related software.
• Proven ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer facing communication skills.
• Understanding of centralized and distributed controls architectures.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet, Profibus, Profinet, CAN, Hirschmann Hi-vision fieldbus networks.
• Knowledge of safety systems and standards (NFPA79, UL).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and controls documentation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Dematic customers, co-workers, vendors and sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

• Audits: perform comprehensive electrical and control systems audits at customer sites.
• Commissioning support to installation teams on active projects and pre-commissioning activities.
• Prepare clear, detailed technical documentation and audit reports.
• Interface with customers to clarify requirements and support follow-ups.
• Provide regular commissioning status updates to Dematic leadership.
