Position Details

• Title: Field Construction Supervisor
• Company: Tampa Electric Company
• Location: Eastern Service Area, Tampa, Florida
• Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days
• Employment Status: Open to internal TECO team members for a minimum of 7 days from posting

Position Concept

The Field Construction Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the preparation of field installation contract packages, safely directing contractors’ work using a ZERO accident philosophy, monitoring daily activities to support the project schedule, reviewing project designs for potential changes, and ensuring quality and compliance with work rules and CSMP.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure work quality and identify critical items impacting the schedule.
2. Review project design for potential changes and approve contract change notices.
3. Monitor contractor work for safety, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with safety programs.
4. Review contractor progress through field observations.
5. Assist in planning and tracking project schedules and productivity.
6. Support bid, evaluation, and awarding of contract work, and assign duties to contractors.
7. Inspect ongoing work to confirm performance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in relevant roles; college degree may substitute experience.
• Knowledge/Skills: Understanding of electrical distribution systems, safety practices, mechanical aptitude, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Field inspections, outdoor work in various weather conditions, climbing, and working at heights are required. Overtime and storm response are part of the role.
