Distribution Field Construction Supervisor
POSITION CONCEPT
The Distribution Field Construction Supervisor is responsible for assisting in preparation of field installation contract packages; safe direction of contractor’s work using a ZERO accident philosophy; monitoring daily work activities to assure contractors and subcontractors are supporting the overall project schedule. Additionally, the supervisor will review the project design to identify any potential changes and work with contract personnel to review and approve any contract change notices. The Supervisor will ensure the quality of all work performed while identifying construction critical items that may have potential of impacting the work schedule. The supervisor will monitor the project for work rules and CSMP compliance.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISION
Direct Supervision: None currently
Indirect Supervision: Indirect Supervision of all contractor management planning personnel
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Interfaces with Contracting Partner, Engineers, Planning Groups, and Managers. Communicates daily with Contractor Supervisors, Construction Supervisors, and with the SPP Construction Manager
Key External: Frequent contact with Senior Management of contractor firms regarding development of estimates and manpower planning. Frequent contact with Warehouse and TECO Buyers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Valid Florida driver's license and safe driving record.
Experience
Required: Minimum of five (5) years of Journeyman level (or above) Lineworker/Troubleshooter experience.
Preferred: Two (2) years Crew Leader experience and/or Safety Committee participation, including being the Chairman of the Safety Committee.
Required: A thorough understanding of the construction, maintenance and operating facets of TEC’s underground and overhead electrical distribution systems, as well as TEC’s Safe Work Practices and Contractor Safety Management Program. Requires mechanical aptitude. Must have the ability to become proficient in TEC’s current work management (WorkPro) and budget software system (SAP), along with the capacity to make successful decisions in high stress situations. Demonstrated strong leadership skills, high work standards and high stress tolerance. Good, planning, organizing, teamwork, oral and written communication skills and the ability to accept, manage, communicate, and facilitate change.
