Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a Construction and Maintenance Technician I for outdoor fieldwork in Beaver Run, MD. The role focuses on safe operation, installation, and maintenance of gas pipelines and facilities, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

You will assist with pipeline maintenance, operate and inspect heavy equipment, and support peak shaving processes. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, with CDL obtainable within 18

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level mechanical/industrial experience or trade school background.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL within 18 months.
• Strong focus on safety and operating procedures.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office) and communication skills.
• Ability to wear PPE (respirator, fall protection).

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation and maintenance of gas pipelines and facilities.
• Maintain equipment, facilities, and grounds at various sites.
• Perform pipeline maintenance (leaks, cathodic protection, ROW clearing, valve maintenance).
• Operate backhoes, excavators, trenchers with guidance and keep daily records.
• Conduct equipment inspections (pre/post trip).
• Keep company truck stocked and organized.
• Perform light maintenance on facilities/equipment.
• Assist with peak shaving processes as needed.
