Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation seeks a Construction and Maintenance Technician II to ensure safe operation, installation, and maintenance of gas system infrastructure and facilities within the service territory.

Based in Beaver Run, MD, this role requires a CDL (Class A or B), strong safety focus, and experience in mechanical and electrical work. You will operate heavy equipment, perform inspections, and support peak shaving processes while documenting tasks in our systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years underground utility experience (mechanical/industrial).
• CDL Class A or B license is required.
• Strong safety focus and ability to wear required PPE.
• Proficient mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains gas pipelines and facilities.
• Maintains facilities (operations centers, compressor stations, etc.).
• Leads or assists pipeline maintenance activities (leaks, cathodic protection, valves).
• Proficiently operates heavy equipment and may train junior technicians.
• Conducts inspections (including vehicle inspections).
• Documents compliance tasks in work systems.
• Manages 811 tickets for routine and emergency work.
• Maintains truck inventory and organization.
• Performs facility/equipment maintenance.
• Assists with material procurement.
• Supports peak shaving processes.
