Field Construction Lead — Assistant Superintendent

Job summary

HGC Construction is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to work alongside the Superintendent, coordinating daily field activities and supporting site teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

The role focuses on coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining quality through strong communication with architects, engineers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of construction management or related field experience.
• Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and inspection compliance.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and supervising daily construction activities.
• Monitor project progress and ensure work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and other legal requirements.
• Help manage construction schedules, coordinate deadlines, and adjust milestones to stay on track.
• Coordinate subcontractors and ensure work is completed according to contractual agreements and project requirements.
• Assist with material and supply procurement, inventory management, and timely jobsite deliveries.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections to monitor construction quality and address issues as they arise.
• Enforce safety protocols among construction personnel and subcontractors to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to resolve technical and design challenges.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, employee records, project costs, and other construction documentation.
• Support the Superintendent in preparing progress reports for clients and company leadership.
• Participate in project meetings, providing updates on field progress, challenges, and upcoming activities.
• Help resolve field issues and conflicts to keep teams aligned and work moving forward.
• Ensure construction activities meet project specifications, contract documents, and quality standards.
• Support project commissioning, closeout, and final handover to clients.
