Job summary

DLZ Corporation in Detroit, MI is seeking a Construction Inspector to support DWSD water and sewer infrastructure projects. This role involves full-time field inspections, documentation, and coordinating with city staff and contractors to ensure progress aligns with plans and safety standards.

You will review plans, perform material testing coordination, verify quantities, and monitor construction activities across multiple sites in Detroit, Michigan.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of municipal construction inspection experience.
• Ability to read plans and specs.
• Experience with daily inspection reports.
• Willingness to travel across Detroit-area projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-time field inspection of sewer service lateral replacement, gravity sewer repair, watermain and utility work, excavation, trench backfill, pavement and sidewalk restoration, concrete work, asphalt paving, and related municipal infrastructure.
• Review plans and schedules and report findings.
• Document daily activities and test results.
• Coordinate with contractors, City staff, and residents.
• Ensure safety compliance and quality control.
• Maintain reports using approved software.
