Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking Construction Inspectors to support transportation projects in Lynchburg, VA. Responsibilities include inspecting highway construction/maintenance, monitoring contractor work for quality and compliance, and maintaining detailed project records.

Positions require an HS diploma or equivalent, knowledge of VDOT standards, and experience with construction materials and testing.

Qualifications

HS diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience in materials, standards, and specifications related to VDOT projects and facilities is required.
Knowledge of roadway, structure, and bridge construction/maintenance/repair methods, materials, standards and specifications is needed.
Ability to use project contract management software and MS Office; familiarity with construction management software used by the client.

Responsibilities

Monitor contractor work to ensure quality control and contract compliance for roadway, structure, and bridge construction/maintenance projects.
Inspect and monitor field work including excavations, drainage, road surfaces, and structures.
Take field measurements and review pay items; observe contractor daily progress.
Schedule work and inspections with contractor and agency personnel; communicate non‑compliant work.
Maintain project records such as diaries, notebooks, as‑built plans and monthly estimates.
