Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a Construction Inspector Trainee for full-time work in Fairfax, VA. You will shadow experienced inspectors and managers on various VDOT and local transportation projects, performing field inspections and documentation.

The role requires 0-2 years of inspection experience, valid driver’s license, and strong reading of plans with good communication. A degree and certifications are desirable and the team offers growth and professional development

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of field construction inspection experience.
• Inspection experience with roadway/bridge construction and pavement rehabilitation.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• High School Diploma or State Equivalency; Bachelor’s desirable.
• Strong communication and ability to read/interpret plans.
• Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Construction management and field inspection to verify conformance to design plans and specs.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on work performed by Contractor.
• Perform materials testing and maintain testing logs.
• Review periodic pay estimates for accuracy with Contractor.
• Communicate with Engineer, Owner and project team on field conditions.
