Job summary

CTL Engineering is seeking Construction Inspectors to join our team for state, county, and local roadway and bridge projects in the northeastern Ohio region. The role emphasizes field inspections, quality control, and collaboration with project teams and agencies.

Responsibilities include reading drawings, performing inspections, and preparing records. Travel within the region is expected, with some office work and potential vehicle stipends based on assignment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
• Experience with materials and lab testing.
• Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications.
• Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
• Understanding of construction or engineering services.
• Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
• Must be able to interact well with others.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
• Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
• Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects.
• Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
• Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
• Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
• Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
• Possibly conduct hazardous material surveys and asbestos abatement monitoring during abatement projects.
• Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
• Notify the Project Engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
