Job summary

Job duties include operating highway maintenance equipment, performing inspections, winter operations, and coordinating with contractors to ensure work quality and compliance with specifications.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Ability to lead and coordinate field crews in the road/highway setting.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents (AASHTO/ITM).
• Demonstrated knowledge of highway construction practices and safety standards.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in inclement weather.
• Drug test required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance equipment to repair and clean highways.
• Ensure tasks are completed on schedule and report issues.
• Coordinate with contractors to meet INDOT standards.
• Perform winter operations including snow removal.
• Inspect and maintain equipment including pre-trip checks and refueling.
• Repair and install traffic signs and pavement markings.
• Respond to emergencies with traffic control and barricades.
