Job summary

Crawford & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Special Inspector to conduct on-site inspections of construction projects, ensuring compliance with building codes, specifications, and safety regulations.

This role plays a critical part in maintaining quality and ensuring that materials and workmanship meet required standards. You will perform testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, steel, and other materials, document findings, and communicate deficiencies to the project team.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Experience: 3–5 years in construction inspection or materials testing.
• Certifications: ICC Special Inspector, NICET, ACI, AWS, Caltrans desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular inspections and testing of construction work to ensure compliance with codes and project specifications.
• Document inspection findings and communicate deficiencies or non-compliance to the project manager or contractor.
• Conduct field testing of materials (soil, concrete, asphalt) and collect samples for laboratory analysis.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain organized records of inspections, tests, and communications.
• Collaborate with contractors, project managers, engineers and architects to ensure specifications are followed.
• Provide technical guidance on quality control and compliance issues on site.
• Promote safety practices and report hazards in accordance with OSHA regulations.
• Stay updated on current construction practices and participate in training.
