Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks Construction Inspectors for RAPIDES Parish. The role involves field inspections, materials observation, and documentation on roadway, bridge, and drainage projects.

Training is provided and there's potential for career progression within the Construction Inspector series. Positions are located in Rapides District 08/Unit 208 and report to a Construction Inspector Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection of roadway, bridge, drainage, and related construction activities.
• Review and document material deliveries and quantities (including haul tickets and load tickets).
• Perform measurements, field checks, and routine tests under supervision.
• Observe contractor work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including field notes, diaries, test reports, and estimates.
• Enter construction project data into required systems (e.g., Site Manager or other DOTD applications).
• Participate in required training and structured certification programs.
• Support public interaction and coordination during construction activities, as needed.
• Assist with emergency or disaster response activities when required.
