Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is seeking a Construction Inspector in District 61, East Baton Rouge Parish. The role involves assisting professional engineers and inspectors, reviewing specifications, and reporting on construction progress.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED or related experience, and may include night/weekend shifts. Training and continuing education are provided.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR six months of sub-professional engineering experience.
• Ability to inspect construction work and process related documents with accuracy.
• Familiarity with department procedures, policies, standards, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Utilize knowledge of department procedures, policies, standards, and specifications when inspecting construction work and handling field documentation.
• Serve as primary construction inspector in area(s) of specialization or certification; verify elevations/alignments for surveys.
• Review haul tickets for compliance; prepare reports and perform calculations for quantities.
• Enter project data into SiteManager and LIMS databases.
• Attend preconstruction and progress meetings as primary inspector and provide quantities and insights.
