Job summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Mid-Level Construction Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects in the Chicago area. This role emphasizes materials testing, quality control, and field documentation for IDOT, CDOT, and other clients.

You will collaborate with inspectors, engineers, contractors, and agency staff to monitor construction activities, collect samples, and ensure work conforms to project plans and safety standards across multiple sites in the Chicago region.

Qualifications

• BA/BS+4 years of relevant construction inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and active construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregate, soils).
• Support materials testing and quality control for roadway, bridge, and structural projects.
• Collect, label, transport, and track material samples between sites and labs.
• Conduct field observations to verify conformance with plans, specs, and quality standards.
• Maintain testing records, inspection reports, and sample logs with accuracy.
• Coordinate with inspectors, engineers, contractors, and agency representatives on testing schedules.
