Job summary

GMS, Inc., Consulting Engineers seeks an Entry-Level Construction Inspector to act as on-site representative during municipal infrastructure construction in Colorado. You will observe and document work from mobilization through final completion, collaborating with contractors, municipal clients, and GMS engineers.

The role requires fieldwork in varying weather, accurate documentation, and professional communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
• Basic math, measurement, and quantity calculations.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and electronic file management.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contract documents.

Responsibilities

• Observe and document construction for conformance with plans and documents.
• Prepare daily reports, photographs, quantity records, testing docs.
• Attend project progress meetings with contractors and clients.
• Track progress and review contractor payment applications.
• Identify discrepancies and coordinate with the project engineer.
• Assist with issue resolution and maintain professional relationships.
• Assist with substantial-completion inspections and project closeout.
• Maintain redlined field drawings for record drawings.
• Communicate professionally with contractors, municipal staff, property owners, and GMS team.
• Travel to project sites throughout Colorado and work out of town as needed.
