Job summary

MECO Engineering is seeking a Construction Inspector to support civil infrastructure projects across the St. Louis area and surrounding region. The role involves field inspections, QA documentation, and coordination with project engineers to ensure plans and specs are followed.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of field inspection experience, knowledge of construction materials, OSHA 10, and a detail-oriented approach. Regular travel to sites is required; safety and quality are the priorities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field inspection experience in civil construction or similar.
• Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and inspection practices.
• OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain prior to starting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate field reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily on-site inspections of pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
• Observe contractor methods and materials for conformance with plans and specs.
• Document construction progress with photos, measurements, and daily reports.
• Support field testing of materials (concrete, soils, asphalt) under supervision.
• Identify non-compliant work and report to senior staff.
• Assist with safety plans and site safety adherence.
• Attend site meetings and help with RFIs and submittals.
