Job summary

Canadian Solar SSES (US) Inc. seeks a Commissioning Engineer to lead testing and oversight of Battery Energy Storage projects.

You will spend 75%+ of time at project sites across Texas, Arizona, California, coordinating with owners, engineers, and contractors to ensure on‑time, quality completion. Requires 5+ years in commissioning or systems engineering within renewables, plus hands‑on experience with BESS, MV stations, and equipment procurement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years in commissioning or systems engineering in renewables.
• Hands-on with battery storage systems and MV stations.
• Proficient in major equipment procurement (inverters/transformers/switchgear).
• Solid understanding of NEC/UL standards and IEEE80 grounding.

Responsibilities

• Participate in meetings with owner, operations, design and construction to align goals and schedules.
• Review project docs to identify gaps in scope and responsibility.
• Execute commissioning activities and manage scope, schedule, and stakeholders.
• Interface with internal and external customers to ensure clear communication.
• Manage suppliers and host daily plan of the day (POD) with each supplier.
• Conduct site visits to coordinate commissioning plans and testing.
• Suggest improvements to commissioning plans based on lessons learned.
• Develop relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors in the energy storage sector.
• Support value‑engineering and process improvements with project learnings.
