City of Crystal River (FL) seeks a Code Enforcement Officer to inspect properties for violations, respond to complaints, and pursue voluntary compliance with owners. The job combines field work with careful record-keeping, diagram creation, photo documentation, and preparation for hearings.

A High School Diploma is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field is preferred.

Competenze

• 5 years of administrative experience with high public contact, including enforcement, inspection, or investigation.
• Experience coordinating with property owners and handling compliance matters.

Mansioni

• Inspects the City for violations and engages with owners by phone, in person, and written correspondence to obtain voluntary compliance.
• Investigates complaints and contacts owners to achieve property compliance when violations exist.
• Initiates code enforcement proceedings and, if needed, appears before the Hearing Officer.
• Performs routine office tasks: data entry, record maintenance, filing, copying, faxing, and preparing correspondence.
• Removes illegal temporary signage from roadways when necessary.
• Completes all office duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Weekend work may be required to ensure coverage throughout the week.
• Provides testimony and evidence at Code Enforcement Hearings.
• Performs other duties as required.
