Job summary

The Riverside County Code Enforcement Department is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer I for the Special Enforcement Team (SET) located in Riverside. This role performs both field and office work to ensure compliance with land use ordinances and related code provisions, and may investigate and report on complaints, issue warnings and citations, and assist with related duties.

Travel to Palm Springs and Temecula locations may be required.

Qualifications

One year of technical experience involving land use, zoning, building inspections, code enforcement, or abatement work.
Completion of undergraduate coursework from an accredited college or university can substitute for up to one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with County land use, housing, zoning, abatement, and nuisance codes and ordinances by receiving, recording, and investigating complaints.
Contact property and business owners to schedule and conduct on-site inspections; advise residents and business representatives of ordinance requirements to gain voluntary compliance.
Document code non-compliance with photographs, measurements, and records; issue notices of non-compliance and citations; prepare files, reports, and correspondence.
Maintain records of inspections and compliance; prepare documentation for legal actions; may testify in court or administrative proceedings.
Confer with related agencies and County departments on disposition of complaints and code non-compliance.
