Job summary

Makino is a world leader in metal-cutting and machining technology. The CNC Technician at Makino will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC equipment to support customers in automotive, aerospace, and medical sectors.

This field-based role covers the Greater Chicago region with occasional travel; the position offers a company vehicle, comprehensive health benefits, 3 weeks of vacation, a 401(k) plan, and employee events.

Qualifications

• Direct hands-on experience service, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Makino CNC machine tools is required.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency with software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office)
• Strong technical, communication, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours with travel throughout a regional territory.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tool equipment and controls. (Makino provides a company vehicle; gas and travel expenses are covered.)
• Use online technical documentation, manuals, and vendor resources to research and resolve machine issues.
• Complete and submit accurate documentation to Makino and customers regarding machine status, repairs, and installations.
• Perform and promote preventive maintenance on customer equipment and provide after-sales technical support and training.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of the machine tool industry and the Makino product lines.
• Participate in training on CNC repair and Makino equipment during onboarding.
