Job summary

Makino is seeking a CNC Technician Level 2 or Sr. to support the Greater Chicago, IL region. The role requires hands-on repair, installation, and preventive maintenance of Makino CNC machine tools at customer sites, often from home with travel to customer locations.

The candidate will use manuals and vendor resources to resolve issues, document statuses, and participate in onboarding training. Strong communication and technical skills are essential, along with flexibility for travel.

Qualifications

  • Direct hands-on experience servicing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Makino CNC machine tools is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency with software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office); laptop, smartphone, and apps used daily.
  • Strong technical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours with travel throughout a regional territory.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tool equipment and controls. Makino provides a company vehicle; gas and travel expenses are covered.
  • Use online technical documentation, manuals, and vendor resources to research and resolve machine issues.
  • Complete and submit accurate documentation to Makino and customers regarding machine status, repairs, and installations.
  • Perform and promote preventive maintenance on customer equipment and provide after-sales technical support and training.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the machine tool industry and Makino product lines.
  • Participate in training on CNC repair and Makino equipment during onboarding.

CNC Technician Level 2 or Sr.
Position Summary

The CNC Technician at Makino will utilize strong mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC equipment. This role reports directly to the Reginal Customer Support Manager and plays a key part in supporting our customers’ machine tool operations. This position will primarily cover the Greater Chicago, IL region with the occasional travel outside the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tool equipment and controls. (Makino provides a company vehicle; gas and travel expenses are covered.)
