Job summary
New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service seeks a Senior Engineering Technician to assist under the Base Civil Engineer, performing civil engineering work, site inspections, field surveys, and data analysis. You will support contract reviews, CAD/GIS drafting, and map preparation to ensure project compliance and timely delivery.
The role requires experience with CAD/GIS software, test methods, and coordinating with contractors.
Qualifications
- Three years of full time satisfactory experience in field or office civil engineering work; training may substitute for part of the experience.
- Associate degree in engineering science, civil engineering technology, or architectural technology for two years of experience.
- Two years of technical experience in automated cartography or CAD/GIS-related studies.
Responsibilities
- Perform field tests of materials and construction (e.g., compaction, concrete air content).
- Visually inspect projects for compliance with specifications and standards.
- Compute quantities and provide contract cost estimates.
- Provide CAD/ GIS support for field investigations, drafting, surveying, and contract management.
