Job summary

Stantec in Minnesota is seeking Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns in our Community Development Group across Twin Cities, St. Cloud, and Rochester. You’ll work with experienced practitioners on real projects, gaining hands-on experience outside on construction activities.

The internship offers exposure to urban design, roadways, trails, traffic engineering, and more. You'll develop practical skills, build your network, and contribute to environmentally responsible, technically sound designs.

Responsibilities

• Use technical and communication abilities to assist with completing the civil component of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting.
• Perform construction observation for project compliance with project documents and engineering principles.
• Perform construction administration duties including documenting construction activities, measuring materials, coordinating materials testing, reviewing shop drawings, and providing general project oversight.
• Complete detailed reports as required.
• Assist with construction surveying/staking as needed.
• Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Office duties if available may include assisting with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other project deliverables.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is now accepting applications for Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns within our Community Development Group in multiple locations throughout Minnesota (Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Rochester).

As an intern, you will work in a team environment gaining practical on‑the‑job experience while having exposure to community development projects. Most of your time will be spent working outside on construction activities. Projects may include urban design and planning, roadways, park and recreation design, multi‑use trail and pathway design, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, assessment and rehabilitation, infrastructure design, water and wastewater conveyance, and storm water management.
