City of Spring Hill Kansas is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee grading operations and perform inspections of sidewalks, streets, curbs, sewers, and water mains to ensure compliance with city standards.

The role includes reviewing plans, attending pre-construction meetings, managing projects from the field, and preparing reports and notices. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required; college coursework is preferred and professional certifications are encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• College coursework in engineering, construction management, or related field desired.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate with City Engineer to review project plans and contract documents; ensure conformance with city specs.
• Attend pre-construction conferences to discuss methods and testing requirements.
• Review shop drawings and verify accuracy of as-built plans.
• Inspect and monitor grading, sewers, water mains, and street construction for compliance with standards.
• Observe testing for streets, sewers, and water mains, including subgrade and materials testing.
• Perform curb, sidewalk, and driveway inspections on residential and commercial properties.
• Actively manage assigned projects from a field perspective.
• Measure quantities, review pay estimates, input change orders, and prepare closeout documents.
• Enforce right-of-way ordinances; reject non-compliant materials or methods as needed.
• Review all change orders and payment requests from contractors.
• Read field notes, engineering sketches, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Perform routine clerical work including maintenance of records and preparation of notices and documents.

Formation
