Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College coursework in engineering or construction management preferred.
• CDL or valid driver’s license preferred.
• Professional construction-related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with the City Engineer to review project plans and documents for conformance to specifications.
• Attends pre-construction conferences to discuss methods and material testing.
• Reviews submittals and verifies as-built plans accuracy.
• Inspect and monitor grading, sewers, water mains, and street construction per standards.
• Perform field tests such as subgrade, concrete, and asphalt testing.
• Conduct curb, sidewalk, and driveway inspections prior to occupancy.
• Manage assigned projects from a field perspective.
• Review change orders and payment requests; assist with project closeout.
• Maintain inspection and complaint records; enforce right-of-way rules.
• Communicate with contractors, citizens and city staff; prepare notices and documents.
• Assist with emergency operations such as snow removal as needed.
