Job summary

RK&K is hiring a CEI Inspector for the Knoxville/Tri-Cities TN area to strengthen the Construction Engineering and Inspection team through routine project inspections, testing and monitoring for highway, bridge and design-build projects.

You will engage in problem-solving, supervise junior inspectors, and communicate across teams, clients and agencies while documenting findings and ensuring contract adherence on active construction sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in roadway and structures construction.
• Working knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts and interpret plans, standards and specs.
• Ability to train, coordinate and supervise entry level inspection technicians in the field.
• Travel to job sites is expected with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction management support including inspection, testing and monitoring for contract compliance.
• Engage in solving intermediate problems and provide evaluation and sound solutions.
• Monitor activities of other inspectors.
• Communicate effectively with project management, clients, stakeholders and contractors.
• Interface with clients, state and federal agencies and other engineering disciplines.
• Recordkeeping, materials testing and reporting as required.
• Maintain high integrity and ethics in all client and subconsultant dealings.
