Job summary

CDM Smith in Lowell, MA is seeking a motivated field inspector to join our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team. This on-site role involves working at diverse project locations, gaining real-world experience, and making a direct impact on project success while supporting safety and quality on every task.

You will review construction plans, inspect traffic control, environmental controls, and materials, and collaborate with engineers under direct supervision.

Qualifications

• English communication is required for verbal and written interactions.
• Basic arithmetic skills for measurements and calculations.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under supervision.
• Review day-to-day work and candidate acceptance/rejection decisions, plus QC procedures and material testing.
• Review material testing procedures and results for contract conformance and quantify materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavements.
