Job summary

Sperry Rail Service is seeking a CDL Driver for a high-travel, field-based role across Eastern or Western US. You will operate hi-rail trucks and rail-bound detector cars, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and ensure DOT compliance while supporting testing operations.

The position requires extensive travel (3–4 months at a time), strong communication skills, and the ability to work in varied weather and on railroad terrain. A valid CDL with air brake endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement.
• Pass DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Basic mechanical aptitude (e.g., changing tires, replacing batteries).
• HS Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (3–4 months at a time) within assigned regions.
• Operate hi-rail trucks and rail-bound detector cars and perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections.
• Maintain DOT compliance, including driver logs and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with rail flaw detection testing and data collection.
• Maintain the vehicle and equipment, including routine maintenance.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE, reporting issues promptly.
