Job summary

The Missouri Department of Conservation is seeking a Skilled Journeyman Carpenter to maintain and repair facilities and grounds at the Southwest Regional Office. This full-time position requires a high school diploma or GED and four years of journeyman carpenter experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

You will perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC repairs, oversee construction projects, schedule preventative maintenance, procure materials, and train staff on safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET is required.
• Four years of journeyman carpenter experience is required.
• Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain facilities and grounds infrastructure, including painting, carpentry and construction.
• Troubleshoot and perform electrical, concrete, HVAC, and plumbing repairs.
• Oversee and/or complete new construction projects by completing bids, assigning tasks and monitoring timesheets, progress, budgets, etc.
• Schedule and/or perform regular preventative maintenance tasks.
• Address all other repair or maintenance issues.
• Create work schedules, approve time off requests and verify time sheets for payroll.
• Troubleshoot and operate all hand tools, power tools and heavy machinery.
• Train staff on proper safety and equipment operating procedures.
• Procure materials for construction projects.
• Order tools and other inventory supplies, as needed.
• Verify invoices against purchase orders and budget, and submit for payment.
• Approve and submit purchasing card reimbursement requests.
• Communicate with internal and external parties regarding maintenance needs and project status, by phone, email and in-person discussions.
